Katrina Throwback

Initially, I was going to do a recap of what went down a year ago when Katrina wreaked its havoc in the gulf coast, but what good is it? Why go back and relive a tragedy. I’m actually more interested in seeing progress…kinda like these.

Oh yeah, Top 5 Katrina-Related Rap Songs (Listen-N-Download)

Oh and another thing its not the government don’t want to fix N.O. i mean look at the world trade, that haven’t been fix yet and its been 5 years. The truth is the government just don’t care about america period, you have to understand the goverment can’t make money by rebuilding or helping there own countrey, think why they spend trillions on these other country and war thats because they stand to make trillions more, so when thinking that they don’t like us which is true but remember its always money first.

2. dax3er Says:

kanye is a funny, yet interesting character. You got to love it.

3. obifromsouthlondon Says:

some radio jock kept playing this over and over last night. you gotta hand it to Kanye. priceless

4. Hot Link Sandwich and 40 oz Says:

and what he said it still rings true today.

5. Say Says:

Black people don’t even care about each other, why should anyone else?

6. Illmatic620 Says:

I actually cringed when I first heard this, I mean, poor whites/latinos suffer just like poor blacks, i know NO was a heavily african-american city though. Remember when they said this the media was saying maybe 25k body bags needed when only around 2k actually died, so everything was crazy and we didnt know what was going down. I’m not trying to lessen the fact that 2k people died, im just saying that was better then what we thought at the time.

A lot of raping and looting was done in N.O… majority of the city was Black, so why not say that its more than likely that black males did their fair share of the looting? As a minority though I know what Kayne was saying that the media was portraying blacks in a negative light but in a time of national tragedy lets bring people together not divide the nation.

7. Fizzle Says:

yall are plain ignorant

8. O.O. Says:

Kanye said it best “racism still alive they just concealing it”

9. O.O. Says:

Illmatic,
You don’t think the govt’s reaction would’ve been different if it wasn’t a predominantly black city?

10. Raw DAWG Says:

Kanye is a cry baby. What has he done to help stop racism?

11. Illmatic620 Says:

Homes at first I was 100 percent feeling what Kayne was saying during the actual storm but as time pasted we realized how much of the failure was at the state and local level and not at the federal. American buerarchy and federalism is sometimes a bitch. Missisippi is already rebuilding faster then N.O., thats local gov’t’s fault. N.O. has money but no plan (Nagin’s 100 day plan was a joke). I’m a liberal, dem from NY and im not white, still I find it hard to scapegoat George w. and FEMA on this one.

12. Nunez Says:

^that’s some real talk right there

13. dayne Says:

Say i agree. Alot may get mad at me for saying this but the truth is the truth. Think about when God destroy Sodom and Gomora, think how the tsunamis destroy indonesia, you have to think about the wickedness that goes on in these places, I mean in the middle of a hurricane people are raping young kids, there is a reason why God put his rath upon these places. Also to expose the devil governmental system. God isn’t finished with this world yet believe when i say this there is too much wickedness in this world. I mean i feel for the children and the elderly. Before we go and say white people don’t like blacks which is true why don’t we black people start liking each other.

14. Rizoh Says:

My friends and I were talking about this yesterday. My boy’s girlfriend thinks it was an act of God. I’m not ruling this out comppletely…in fact, I’ve even blogged about it. But I think we’re simply sentimentalizing the whole subject. If the government failed, (state, federal, local), then that’s the stark reality. That reality just might be an act of God, huh? I don’t know…I’m sure there are worse places in this country than N.O. So, how come God didn’t strike those places? Maybe some of you theo-experts can help me out here.

15. dayne Says:

Rizoh,God works in his own misterious ways slowly but surely one by one he will put his wrath upon every nation. Look around you observe everything around you. Ask yourself how come the good are dieing so often and the wicked people are living so long. The answer to that is the good and righteous ones who serve God faithfully our reward is in heaven and the bad they will live long because they must suffer for inequities that they afflict on us.

16. dayne Says:

Rizoh i live in NY i truely believe that New York will be next if not last, new york is the new sodom and gomora, as us jamaican would say Bobylon. Observe Rizoh how the weather is.

17. sue Says:

I love how Mike Meyers was like the Chicago Improv king and has no idea what to do or say during this speech.

This clip also makes me love Kayne even more because you can tell he’s sincere with his thoughts and wishes and is really effected, not reading a script mindlessly waiting for the stage hand to bring him is latte as soon as the camera cuts away.

18. Illmatic620 Says:

Bullshit. There is no God, but humanity. New York is due for a big hurrican CAT 3 for weather reasons they’ve been forcasting it. New York is one of the safest big cities in America, I’ve grown up in NYC and I’ve been shattered communities rebuild (i’ve also seen ppl suffer due to genterfication too), I dont see how our city is immortal.

And Indonesia, how the fuck are they sacreligious or pagan, they are Islamics and Hindus.

I mean honestly, Christ. is a new kid on the block 2k years old, Hindus and Jewish faiths been around since the dawn of civilization and without those religions Christianity wouldnt exist in its current form.

Lets say your illogical point is right Dayne. God is punishing humanity but killing humans indescriminately for their sins.

Then I say fuck God, I live, and do my work for humanity and man-kind alone, as should all men.

If there is a God I hope it will be a being of total knowledge and peace not one of hatred and retribution.

Time to open your horizons, I see so much around me so much happiness but also so much suffering around me in the world from my left to my right, I dont feel the need to look up or down in fear, this world is enough for me

Respectfully,
B

19. Rizoh Says:

Yo Illmatic620,
I wouldn’t dis God if I were you. You saw what happened to Mobb Deep after Prodigy threatened to run up on God.

Seriously, everyone has their respective beliefs and it’s not my place to judge. But, I believe in God. Things don’t just fall in place–there’s someone supreme being orchestrating what you’ve come to know as fate. I’ve had maaaany instances in my life where divine intervention was clearly responsible for my progress. I can’t hate on that being, especially if He’s working in my favor.

As for Nawlins, Dayne isn’t the first to suggest that it was an act of God.

20. dayne Says:

Illmatic, i’m not even mad at you for your comment all i can say is the day will come when you will see the true king and creator of all life and then you will believe but it will be too late, i pray for you, me and the whole world my brethen. Its funny how the non believers hate and don’t beleive in God but as soon everything in there life is going wrong they call on God, I will live to see the day when all the non believers call on him and he will answer with i don’t know you.

21. dayne Says:

People don’t realize God don’t make people suffer mankind make people suffer. God only allow his people to suffer because he knows his return is soon and his people who are suffering will no longer have to suffer but live ever lasting life. Believ when i say there is a place for the non believers and evil doers. The devil greatest victory is making you believe he doesn’t exist.

Illmatic i will live to see you before God and when your judgment is upon you, even then i will pray for you, i have no hate for you illmatic or any other non believers, thats one of the rewards of being one of Gods followers you get a peace of mind and a loving heart.

22. Nana Says:

you cant dis God, he mad eyou homey

23. The Truth Says:

This still makes me laugh after a year. But he was speaking the truth.

24. Short Dogg Says:

The truth…the truth…the truth shall set you free.
