Shots Fired: Scott Storch - Built Like Dat (Timbaland Diss)

Scott Storch ft. Nox - Built Like Dat (Timbaland Diss)
It took a little jab from Timbaland to make Scott Storch pick up the mic? This might be the first intriguing producer battle of our era. Not in terms of talent–because neither Tim nor Scott can rap his way out of jail–but, this is everything the JD/Dre feud wasn’t. Balanced. Legit. Yet establishes nothing.

Storch started off as a founding member of The Roots and ended up making doo-doo songs with Paris Hilton and Brooke Hogan. On the other hand, Tim’s pop production prowess has never been in question. He’s better recognized for the Aaliyah tracks than for crafting one of the toughest beats on a Jay-Z album. Which is why it’s a good idea for Scott to stick with non-music-related disses here: “Whatchu tryin to lose weight, try to gain some respect”.

Oh, in case you’re wondering how it all started, Timbaland hauled some thin-veiled insults at Storch on his new single, “Give It to Me,” and claims to have recorded another diss to the “Piano Man” on his new album. Something about beat-jacking and whatnot.

And beef keeps evolving…

Mannnnnn, this is ridiculous……but, the lyrics about Timmay taking credit for other people’s beats is an eye opener. But even if it’s true it doesn’t mean much. I saw Storch playing music from Chronic 2001 live at the Wetlands a couple years back, so what does that say about Dre?

4. Anonymous Says:

garbage.

5. DSuper Says:

Man, Timbaland stealing beats ain’t nothing new, supposedly R. Kelly and Dr. Dre stole their fair share, too. Sh*t D.Dot was raping Kanye for years, to let Ye tell it.

As for the song, comical at best, nice beat though.

11. Rizoh Says:

yeah, like i’m gonna get mad if someone calls me by my first name.

12. frankster04 Says:

storch wrote a lot of the shit on chronic 2001 and dude has definitely paid his dues. he used to be a keyboard player for the roots back in the day. i’m not saying i like either one better, because timb is a beast too, but people should do their research before they write him off as some sort of gimmick.

15. xbobbites Says:

At least Timbaland’s song is danceable, so even if its not a great diss song but it can be put on radio and pple will love it

it’s quite unbelievable how you all hate on scott. i don’t hate timbaland cuz he’s come out with some hot tracks like “put you on the game” and quite a few more. But everything most of you have commented about has been contradictory. “At least Timbaland’s song is danceable” - xbobbites …. are you kidding? Tims beats are good dance songs, but don’t tell me you havn’t heard “lean back”, “run it”, etc at a dance or club.
“THIS CRAP STARTED YEARS AGO WHEN STORCH GOT AHEAD OF HIMSELF” - DAYNE …. storch might be a somewhat conceded, but come on.. he’s got a reason to be, he’s earned it. Everything he does is his own and that’s something alot of people can’t do. Look at Kanye, Kanye’s an ill producer.. but he can hardly make a beat with out a sample.
“ended up making doo-doo songs with Paris Hilton and Brooke Hogan” - writer… how can you hate on that? this just proves scotts ability to range in all genres of music, pop, west coast, r&b, club, anything.
However, I agree on the fact that scott should NOT be rapping, cuz that’s awful.
I don’t care if you hate scott or love him, but no matter what I know you all have and will bob your head to a storch beat when you hear one, it’s a fact.
I don’t want to say I’m taking anyones side in the beef but if I am, I’m gonna have to side with Storch.. that guy is my Jew. TUFF JEW productions all the way.
