Pimp C had the internet going nuts the other day when he bodied Atlanta in the August issue of Ozone. ATL’s 107.9 reached out to the Pimp to find out why he’s so mad. The interview is long and Pimp C is screaming on top of his lungs, so I’ll sum it up for you:
-His statements are right but you may have heard it wrong -Atlanta is not part of the south -Atlanta is the gay capital of the US -Pimp C is a man -Pimp C is speaking on behalf of Pimp C, not UGK -Crunk rappers should mail lifetime royalty checks to Three Six Mafia
And all this is coming from the guy who just worked with OutKast on “Int’l Players Anthem,” labeled Young Jeezy “one of the realest n***as,” and dubbed T.I. “King of the South.”
I have to agree with the Pimp on one thing though: I flew to ATL for the last BET Hip-Hop Awards and had to adjust my watch to eastern daylight time.

I felt like he almost said something really intelligent and slipped back into that old bullshit. He was saying how the game lacks substance and used to provide social commentary and then his blood pressure got the best of him.
Pimp C said what he felt, after listening to the interview I have much more respect for him. Not once did he back down, and I think that is one of the best interviews I have ever heard. The way he turned it around, his sense of humor, it was what I have been waiting for- knockin doors down was the pre-quel its time to clean house. Pimp C for president.
Eh ppl should take what Pimp said with a grain of salt of course there were some inconsistencies in what he said, I didn’t completely agree with his atl comments though I can see where he’s coming from with that..however everything else said was pretty on point..ppl need to listen, take heed and kim..
Also, didn’t he already explain why he wasn’t necessarily coming at anyone more like straightening them out, esp @ the 175 comment..he did have a point tho. No one’s been mentioning or supporting BMF’s cause since they were taken away.
Yeah, esbee’s right, the sudden anti-ATL tirade seems a bit off but dude was on point on other… points. Plus he had me laughing out loud with ‘lipgloss Ne-Yo looking like he ate a pork sanwich with no hands’!
Honestly I feel pimp c, but he should of just said Atlanta aint actin like they from the south instead of they aint the south. Out of everything he said I agreed an understood except that. Also thank the lord I have a uncle from Texas that sounds like pimp c cause the average listener could not understand pimp c…an im from memphis and had to repeat some parts, lol.

as far as social commentary is concerned, mr pimp c has a point. specifically, after katrina, you would think that southern mcees would change their tone and subject matter, but they simply ignored the problem.

I never did like your lyrical breaks being from Florida and I was pretty upset how you did state Atlanta wasn’t the south just because it’s in Eastern Time zone. Atlanta has the rap game on lock. But nevertheless, RIP Pimp C.

As you can see the “modern” day “south” includes Texas and Flordia are only usually considered “dirty” south. States like Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina ARE ALWAYS CONSIDERED THE “OLD DIRTY” south.
Doesn’t matter what time zone, the southern US lives from GA to MS.
