Bill O’Reilly Calls Nas “The Best Rapper Alive”

I’m kidding, of course.

Faux News media manipulator Bill O’Reilly is strongly opposed to Nas’ inclusion in the September VA Tech memorial concert, because he’s a “violent gangsta rapper.” To drive his point home, O’Wildy singled out a couple of early Nas songs that contained the slightest hint of violent material, all this while ignoring the bottomless pile of socio-conscious records by the same artist.

O’Wildy has also placed a message on his blog instructing his brainwashed disciples to express their “outrage at the inclusion of a violent “gangsta” rapper in a memorial concert at Virginia Tech.”

It’s worth noting that hip-hop scholar Bakari Kitwana kept his composure but still held it down all the way.

Jesus!

He fails to put any of the songs he played into context - it’s a straight-up biased “which side of the fence do you lie?”…American news is fucked up!

Btw…Anyone know who did the remix of “Thief’s Theme” shown on the video?!

Old people are wack!

3. Ivan Says:

You know, I gotta say, it IS a fair argument, although it’s definitely unfair that they’re painting him exclusively as something he’s not…

4. JK Says:

What are you talking about? Fox news is “Fair and Balanced”. Note the sarcasm & irony.

5. Walter Says:

Didn’t they already kick Nas off the memorial, though?

Not yet. After O’Wildy’s rampaged they probably will.

8. Big Homie Says:

Why does this man continue to care about what Hip Hop says or does? Of all people Nas or in his words Nass?? Nas is by far, far from a gangsta rapper. This man and the others who oppose his performance act like he is going to get on stage with a bulletproof vest with gunshots echoing from the speakers (see: G-Unit and Game shows)

Nas is wise and will make good choices on tracks he will perform and censoring. He clearly has a long list catalog of tracks suitable for this event. Reilly needs to check himself.

9. JP Says:

I got mad respect for that Kiwana guy.

10. Ninoy Brown Says:

common could do a show at a non-violence show for pepsi, and o’reilly would ask pepsi to take common off the bill cause of a few words that seem threatening.

11. JK Says:

^Bill O’Reilly: This Common guy is pretty much a common rapper. In this “A Film Called Pimp” song he calls a female a bitch and you can hear him slap this “hoe”. Isn’t that nice, Pepsi is promoting…..blah blah blah

12. Erock LAzron Says:

Fucking ridiculous. As if they think Nas will be performing a bunch of songs glorifying murder at this event. This guy is fucked.

How come everyone is still ignoring the weapons conviction? I mean Bill O’Reilly is a goof but ain’t nobody answer that.

19. moneda Says:

Frost, the gun conviction is to be ignored because it’s irrelevant. Nas has a past charge, and? That forever costs him the opportunity to perform for people who have ever lost someone close by violent means? Don’t buy into the Hip-Hop Hate Hype.

Also, that so-called Hip-Hop aficionado should be pimp slapped for, himself, being unable to properly pronounce Nas’ name.

20. Frost Says:

Gun convictions should not ever be ignored, there was a time when nas was .. or so he claims, a gang banger therefore I can understand why there would be people offended by him playing. I say its too bad for those people, but they have the right to have their voice heard just as much as anyone else.

Nas’ can’t argue both sides, he can’t claim to be hard and gang bangin and then turn around and say yeah my music is all about uplifting the people.

I think a Kanye or Talib Kweli would have been a more appropriate choice.

21. moneda Says:

A conviction should never be ignored. Right, ’cause a 30-something multi-millionaire must be the same person he was at 19 or 24 or whenever it was he acquired his misdemeanor charge, right? Anyone who thinks that deserves to be ignored because they’re the same type of ignorant wastes of life who love to see young, black men go in and out of prison. Secondly, Nas doesn’t “argue both sides,” and if you were familiar with his recent body of work you’d know that. Talib would’ve made a better choice? Talib “Gun Music” Kweli? Nigga sit yo’ ass down, please.

22. Frost Says:

For the same reasons that people with weapons convictions are not allowed to cross borders they should not be allowed to play at rallies in support of gun victims.

Also, I am familiar with Nas’ recent bodies of work and since he stopped the gun talk (somewhere mid God’s Son) he has pretty much fallen right off. I have never once heard a Nas song where he talks about helping his friends and or family recover from gun violence in anyway other than shooting back.

“You know I click clack, where you and your mens at.” - Made You Look 02′

My comment about Talib or Kanye being more appropriate dealt mostly with the fact that they have albums currently on rotation. If you had listened to Ear Drum you would know that Kweli isn’t click clacking where anyone’s mens are at.

23. HipHoppolice Says:

Frost your a blatant Nas hater. I know your trying to redo this overused anti-Nas argument about Nas being contradictory and being on both sides of the fence.

Well it’s called versatility, if your a Hov dickrider then you’ll know Hov too has made tons of songs talking about weight, bitches and hoes,as well as bustin guns but then he has also made songs on the other side of the spectrum. Songs about helping his fam, his mom, and generally some insightfull songs abotu life period. How is that any different from Nas?? So if a rapper speaks negatively in a song they cannot ever speak positvely in any others? Life involves both postive and negative aspects, and rappers like Nas and Hov both put out different songs about these things. Thats what make them so good. Frankly niggas don’t wanna here the same preachy bullshit all day everyday, thats why Talib will never be Nas or Jay. Not to say violence sells, but life isn’t all peaches and cream.

Furthurmore Nas never said he was a gangbanger. Gangbanging in NY? are you kidding me, back then that shit was strictly west coast and Chi, nigga never said he gangbanged. Your fabricating things man. He sold a few nicks and dimes around the time illmatic came out. Thats nothing. I don’t know about his other shit, but 98% of rappers haven’t shot anyone like in 2382302 of their songs so who cares. Whether Big, Pun, or whatever.

The bottom line is Bill has ammo for every rapper. He will twist and turn everything. If you have ever cussed in your songs O’reilly will find out and play that shit. I’ts simple. Personally I think Nas should forget about the VA tech shit and spend his time on something else. Let them hire some country singer or something.

24. Frost Says:

Actually I was a big Nas fan and I think Hov has jumped from dick to dick in the industry since day one. Up to and including Streets Disciple I picked up Nas albums the week they came out and with Streets Disciple it ended in a fucken hurry. There was not a noteworthy song on the album and he hasn’t put out a good track since, let alone a good album.

(Bridging the Gap was a decent concept but not a very good song, same applies to Black Republican)

I’m sure anyone can argue with that and there are obviously a couple hundred thousand people in the world that think he’s still on it. As a fan of Nas full library, IMO not one song he has made since God’s Son belongs of a -Best of Nas- album.

“I’m lookin over my shoulder,
Its about 80 people from my hood that showed up,
And they came to show love,
Sold out concert and the doors are closed shut.”

Perhaps I was using the wrong term with gang banger, Nas claims he’s a thug, or he did at least. I played into it with everyone else, and now that he has shown his versatility, he has shown he has none. If only 80 people from the Bridge still feel him, he’s in trouble.

Prodigy’s ROTM was infinitely better than HHID and it dropped independent. Thank god it didn’t drop on G-Unit, thank god some people on the same shit and staying relevant.

25. Hiphoppolice Says:

Frost, well I agree with you to some extent. But don’t overlook Streets Disciple because it had some very solid tracks on it that were comparable to some of his better songs. Have you forgotten “Live now”, “Streets Disciple”, “U.B.R”? All off Streets Disciple and they were excellent tracks both lyrically and beat wise. So how can you say he hasn’r put out a good track since? Thats impossible, mayeb not classic tracks, but he has out out great and noteworthy tracks since then. Even HHID had a few nice tracks, Black Republicans is great even though it can’t hold a candle to Nas’s old stuff.

As for Prodigy, that dude is so irrelevant it’s not funny. He’s like 3x as irrelevant as Nas to some people, and talk about Nas trying to chase commercialism, this dude Prodigy sold his soul for riches. Prodigy isn’t even versatile, same shit? why does he talk about busting guns and being on some gutter shit on every single track when everyone and their mom know that dude is soft. I mean Ballerina P makes great music but he isn’t a shadow of what he portrays 24/7. At least Nas switches it up.

26. Frost Says:

I feel where your comin from and the only reason I brought up Banana P was because ROTM somehow had that old Mobb feel to it, HHID just don’t have that old Nas feelin to it, ya dig?

Then again maybe its only because Blood Money was so bad that ROTM sounds so good. Maybe Nas will be on that next shit … he still shouldn’t play the VT show IMO, but I appreciate your perspective on it.

27. Rose Guardin' Says:

O’Reilly’s is a soft news tabloid journalist! His latest diversion from the troubles of Iraq, blame the rapper for the event! He paints Nas as a gangsta for the few lyrics that he laced on previous albums! Then stand up and claim that he doesn’t represents the people of Virigina Tech! This and for this is a the man who gets his pleasures from loofahs and falafels! Blame the man who shot the people! Please don’t blame the president of a university and a governor who have no control over Dave Matthews induction of Nas to perform! Soft news is Fox Snooze!
