Create Your Own Supergroup

maino-remy-millz-chris.jpg
::NOT an example of a supergroup

That CRS thing with Kanye, Lupe, and Pharrell has been stirring up all kinds of supergroup ideas in my head lately. So here’s the deal: If you could create your own super-duper-group, hip-hop or otherwise, who would you tap for the gig? It’s your call, your rules, and your group. There’s one golden rule though: You have to include at least one producer in the supergroup.

Go!

1. Jerellll Says:

Fuck Pharrell! Fuck that Child Rebel Soldier name too. I liked that rumored name Chicago Runs Shit better. The group would have

Kanye West
Lupe Fiasco
Common
and Rhymefest

Now THAT’S a super group

2. J-Mass Says:

Primo
Pete Rock
Ghost
Jay
Guru
Big L
Prodigy
BIG
Kane
G Rap
Inspectah Deck
Rakim

Super-Uber-Duper Group

My group, my rules.

3. Ivan Says:

Lest we forget the Soulquarians…………………………………………

Super-Duper-Group:
D-Block & Roc-A-Fella (circa 2002)
(Jada, Jigga, Styles, Sigel…Reservoir Dogs v2.0!!!!)

Okay, okay, but to be creative, I’d pick a cross-country group:
AZ (NY) (also, maybe Nas…), Lupe Fiasco (Chi), Black Thought (Philly), Redman (Jerz) & Planet Asia (Cali). Producer? Black Milk (D)

First single: “Protect Ya Neck ‘07″

;-D !!!!!!!!!!!!

Erick Sermonn
Pharoahe Monch
Talib Kweli
Ghostface
Common
Black Thought

[I imagine ghost as the joker of the group]

There’s no-one alive that could fuck with that team - look down the list and it goes from pure producer to pure emcee and everything in between!

Noteable exceptions: RZA and GZA - infinite skillz but just a little too raw for what I was trying to build.

12. DT Says:

Great post, great idea.

I’ve always wanted to see Jay-Z, Nas, and Eminem on a track together. I’ve liked the tracks that Jay’s done with Em and over Em’s beats (Moment of Clarity, Renegades). Nas on “The Cross” was nice too. Eminem has fallen off hard but I really feel that all 3 of these guys, at the top of their game, can hang with each other. “Three Kings” would be the album.

13. hiphoppolice Says:
