NEW YORK, Nov. 21 — Jim Jones, the rap superstar and co-CEO of Diplomat Records, has quietly returned to the studio to record an album of new songs inspired by the forthcoming movie “Alvin and The Chipmunks,” his first “concept” album and second CD in less than a year. (more…)
How long can you go without listening to music at all? Bill Drummond, who has declared today a No Music Day, hopes to observe a music-fast once a year for five years. He started the tradition in 2005. Drummond wants us to renew our relationship with music by first purging our system of all music. So he chose November 21st, the day before St. Cecelia’s day (the patron saint of music), as No Music Day. BBC Radio in Scotland will honor his effort by turning off the music all day.
Sounds like a noble cause and all, but I’ve already broken my fast. Sorry, Bill. I just couldn’t resist the urge to enjoy OutKast’s “Da Art of Storytelling Pt. 4,” which is excellent by the way.
So, in the spirit of No Music Day, here’s my question to you music afficionados: If you only had to listen to 5 CDs for the rest of your life, which albums will you pick?
Ne-Yo tells Big Tigger the real reason he got booted from R.Kelly’s tour.
The PR spin, as reported by several media outlets, was that R.Kelly and Ne-Yo were having contractual disagreements. Ne-Yo says that’s bullsh*t. The reality is that R.Kelly took over all the dressing rooms and gave a mandate that no one should be in the hallway whenever he’s walking by. Not to mention cutting down on Ne-Yo’s rehearsal time.
