The Other Suge Knight Knockout

“Steve Jobs is more hard body than Suge Knight” - Jay Smooth

I don’t know if I completely agree with him on Suge’s street mentality being a liability. As some hip-hop heads have shown us (mostly the smart ones), street corner mentality can be an asset in the marketplace. That said, he makes a very solid point at the end: “America’s always entertained by your gangsta persona but never truly respects it.” Truer words have never been said.

I think there’s lots of things you can take from the street that give you an edge, but like I said you gotta adapt.. take the principles that let you thrive there, and figure out how to apply them in a different game.. if you don’t do that, and just go in handling business by running in the office with bats and hanging people out of windows, you’re probably not gonna last..

I left that out because I was gonna save it for another video, but to be real whenever I say I’m gonna do that i never get it done so I’ll put it on the record here lol..

Suge made more enemies in the game (than anything else) with his brutal tactics. (Like I told you, I lived 2 blocks away from the Death Row building). Horrible stories outta that place….

Plus I’m personally assured that he had (at least) a hand in both Big and Pac’s deaths…

Why not? Diddy smashed a champagne bottle on Steve Stoute’s head and Diddy’s still here. If it worked for him it can work for most. j/k

Seriously, I’m not a big fan of the street mentality model for all the reasons you noted plus more, but like you said it can be useful when applied with discretion.

Good posy Jay. Seldom do I agree 100% but this is one of those times. Just look at Jigga and Dame. Dame followed the code of the streets under the guise of doing business (strong arming and posturing) while Jigga was doing business (breaking bread and politiking. True, Jigga can probably never go back but isn’t that the point…kinda?
