Here’s proof that musicianship is still highly valued by today’s youth. 18-year old YouTube sensation, Jordan DeLisser has set the Internet abuzz by reproducing several tracks from Lil Wayne’s Carter III on piano. It’s not nearly as good as this (non-live) instrumental rendition of Illmatic. For the most part, his execution is choppy and amateurish. Still, his undeniable talent shines through on this low-budget project. He plays by ear and only started reading music recently. You just have to hand it to this young man for taking on such a bold task.

DeLisser’s YouTube page also features piano remakes of other popular hip-hop songs, including Nas’ “Hero” and Kanye’s “Stronger.”
