DMX Speaks Out on “Soldier”

DMX - Soldier | DMX - Already

DMX touches on his recent run-ins with the law on a new song called “Soldier.” It’s actually more like a freestyle. I have no idea why he’s still referencing Brokeback Mountain when Dark Knight is all the rave right now.

DMX Arrested For False Identity … Yet Again

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

DMX mug shot

DMX has inched closer to his goal of becoming the world’s most arrested rapper. Guinness Book of Records, are you paying attention?

X got arrested again yesterday at a Phoenix mall for giving a false name and social security number. No, he’s not ashamed of his own name. He was simply trying to get out of paying medical expenses.

According to police reports, DMX, whose government handle is Earl Simmons by the way, went to Scottsdale’s Mayo Clinic disguised as Troy Jones and refused to pay a $7,500 hospital bill.

DMX’s latest dust-ups with the law:

  • Arrested on felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after investigators seized 12 pit bull dogs and dug up the remains of 3 others.
  • Arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport earlier in the month on outstanding warrants after he failed to appear in court.
  • Arrested in Miami on charges of attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana.

Here’s the funniest part of the story. The sheriff is proposing that X be locked up in isolation for his own safety. “They may not like his music,” says the sheriff.

Somewhat related: A glance at DMX’s soundscan numbers over the years reveals an interesting pattern.
• It’s Dark & Hell Is Hot (1998) - 4.607,812
• Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood (1998) - 3,366,895
• And Then There Was X (1999) - 4,912,860
•The Great Depression (2001) - 1,854,963
• Grand Champ (2003) - 1,192,335

You see, the only time X failed to crack platinum (or gold for that matter) was when he took advice from Pastor Ma$e.
