Royce da 5′9″ - Rewind

::Royce da 5′9″ - “Rewind” (prod. by Carlos “Six July” Broady)

Nickel Nine has been on a roll lately. Unlike most tributes, “Rewind” is an ode to three rappers from three different regions who died before they had a chance to impact the game: Soulja Slim, Big L, and Blade Icewood.

That guy in the picture would be so proud.

Contrary to popular belief, Nickle Nine is still alive. In fact, Royce has two albums worth of material stashed away somewhere. Look for Street Hop and The Revival, in addition to The Bar Exam II mixtape, coming soon from the King of Detroit.

RZA Still Can’t Rhyme on Pace

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

(Rizoh would like to apologize for being on a RZA high lately.)

This video is 2 months old but it was severely slept on. It shows RZA wrecking a cipher at some Hip-Hop Chess Federation event. Even if RZA can’t ride a beat to save his life, he always brings some ear-grabbing lyrics to the table. Plus, he’s really rhyming off the dome. Still one of the illest producer-MCs ever.

Wyclef Reckin’ Mics on 106 & Park

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

I filed this under ‘lyrical exercise‘ so you already know what I think of it. Admittedly, ‘Clef hasn’t had a good album in years, but between that catchy ass single and this showcase, I’m really looking forward to The Carnival II.

Termanology = So Amazing

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

“Who you know nicer than Term, riddle me this. If you don’t say Rakim, you better say Kiss, Styles P, Kool G or Pac. Anybody else I put ‘em up in a box.”

According to iTunes, “So Amazing” is No.3 on my Top 25 Most Played Songs of 2007. Seriously, why hasn’t anyone signed this dude?

Lupe Fiasco - Superstar

“Superstar,” the first single from Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, reaffirms that Lupe is anything but. Let’s face it, real rap superstars don’t rhyme this good anymore.

What’s Higher Than No.1?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

I’m still waiting for folks to label me ‘crazy’ for ranking The Teacha so high up on my Top 50 List. Everytime I hear him wreck the mic, I forgive him a little for all that crazy cock-diesel sh*t he’s been talking lately.

Dude is still the illest freestyle freestyle MC alive…well that’s until Nelly un-retires. I keed! I keed!!
